Made to order

Every box is built to the specification you choose, after you order it. Nothing is taken off a shelf.

That has a consequence worth stating plainly: a box built to your specification, and especially one carrying your engraving, cannot be resold to anyone else. Please check your design carefully before paying.

Prices and payment

Prices are in US dollars. The price of your commission, together with any shipping and tax, is calculated by us at checkout — the figure your browser shows is confirmed against our own calculation before you are charged.

Payment is taken in full at the time of order, through Stripe.

Your engraving

You are responsible for the artwork and words you send us. By uploading them you confirm you have the right to use them.

We may decline to engrave anything unlawful, or anything we would not want to put our name to, and will refund you in full if we do.

Lead times

Lead times depend on the queue and on the materials a commission needs. Any date we give is an honest estimate rather than a guarantee, and we will tell you if it changes.

Delivery

We ship to the address you give at checkout, so please make sure it is right. Once a parcel is handed to the carrier, its timescales are theirs rather than ours.

Changes and cancellation

If you want to change or cancel a commission, write to us as soon as you can. If we have not yet cut material for it, we will usually be able to do so.

Wood is not uniform

Grain, figure and colour vary from board to board, and many species change colour as they age — cherry darkens, padauk deepens, purpleheart shifts from grey-brown to violet. Photographs on this site show pieces we have already made, not the exact piece you will receive.

Variation of this kind is the material behaving as it should, and is not a fault.

If something is wrong

If your box arrives damaged, or there is a fault in how it was made, tell us within a reasonable time and send a photograph. We will repair it, remake it, or refund you.

This does not affect the rights you have under consumer law, which we cannot take away.

Limits

We are responsible for the commission you bought from us. We are not responsible for anything you keep inside it, or for indirect losses.

These terms are governed by the law of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.

The terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
